Beyond the Barre is a full-service dance and fitness retail store located in the heart of Englewood NJ.
Beyond the Barre is owned and operated by Danielle Hernandez, who has near 30 years of dance training, competing and performing. Danielle landed her first professional dance job at the tender age of 11 where she was cast as a featured dancer in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
She was a Junior Nets Dancer for the NJ Nets basketball team and later became one of the youngest NJ Nets Dancers at 17 years old. Danielle received her acting and musical theater training at the prestigious Musical Theater Works Conservatory and successfully performed on many regional stages including the New Jersey State Theater and the Rogue Theater Company in NYC.
She attended Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University with a major in dance and minor in music. At this time she was also a member of the Rutgers University Dance Team.
Upon graduation, Danielle toured nationally with the original cast of "Selena Forever", and played Cha-Cha in the European Tour of West Side Story. She also made it to the TV screen in the soap opera "Guiding Light".
In addition to training and competing with a dance company in NJ, Danielle also trained at Steps on Broadway with Joe Lanteria, Suzi Taylor, Nick Leon and Colleen Walsh, where she became a scholarship student.
Danielle also studied extensively at Broadway Dance Center. At the young age of 15, Danielle fell in love with teaching dance and coaching dance competitive cheer squads and dance teams and brought them to success with State, Regional and National Championship titles.
She has continued teaching and choreographing for local studios, dance teams, and cheer squads for 18 years.
Aside from her passion for dance, Danielle is also a singer-song writer. After many years of guitar, piano and vocal training Danielle began writing her own songs and self-released her Debut Album "Bringing in the Sun". She has performed her music all over the tri-state area including major music venues in NYC including The Bitter End, Iguana Lounge, River and more.
After a lifetime of performing and teaching, Danielle dove into the dance retail world opening Beyond the Barre in late 2010. Danielle's dance career enables her to provide expert pointe shoe and dance shoe fittings, class wear and costume fittings.
